About Me

Early mornings, topwater blowups, and heavy cover—these are what get me up before dawn, rod in hand and heart racing. My name’s John, but most folks know me online as @ksbigbass. Bass fishing isn’t just a pastime for me—it’s a way of living.

My Fishing Journey

I’ve spent years chasing bass across Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, carving out a ā€œpower finesseā€ style that’s a little unorthodox but gets big bites and even bigger stories. Whether it’s working an Eakins Jig through the rocks or swinging a swimbait into the shallows, I’m always pushing to be a smarter, more adaptable angler.

My tournament trail has taken me from windy local reservoirs to legendary Table Rock Lake in Missouri—my favorite water anywhere. That lake handed me my personal best, a 10.5-pound largemouth, and days of 50 fish aren’t rare if you know the seasonal patterns.

Off the Water

When I’m not fishing, I bring that same curiosity and persistence to tech, studying cybersecurity and cloud automation. Bass tournaments sharpen your edge, and I channel that drive as a Cyber Applications Engineer-in-training, always learning, always tinkering with new solutions.

My Current Rig

I run a Ranger 519vx with a 200hp Mercury Optimax—a partnership that’s seen its share of epic days and inevitable boat repairs. But that’s boat life, right?

Thanks for dropping by my corner of the web. My goal is to help fellow anglers catch more fish (and better stories), so stick around for tips, tactics, and straight talk from the Midwest tournament scene. Tight lines!
