I’ve caught the biggest spotted bass of my life fishing there. As well as some picture worthy smallmouth. This is shaping up to be a great tournament with the largemouth bass on fire right now.

Shinichi Fukae tournament boat crashed into a concrete pillar of the Ned McWherter Bridge at Paris Landing State Park.
The cameraman, Robert Gulley of Tupelo, Miss., was seriously injured. He is suffering what appeared to be broken ribs, and cuts and bruises on his face, according the wildlife officer with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

The story goes like this. Guy has a fast bass boat like a lot of us do. Running loaded down fairly well on a lake with heavy boat traffic that day. The pair were flying down the lake headed off to the next spot. That is when a group of coots surprisingly came out of nowhere. One of the biggest and slowest birds hit the trolling motor with the boat going about 70 miles and hour. Another bird hit the console and then hit the driver directly in the face.

Big Smallmouth Days This past week was a dream for any smallmouth fanatic ā we caught and filmed an epic run of trophy fish. Several smallies topped 6 lbs, and five fish we weighed all broke the 5 lb mark on a digital scale. Every bite was a reminder why chasing these giants is just plain electric.
It was a mixed-bait bonanza: jerkbaits, football jigs, crankbaits, and lipless cranks all drew heavy strikes.

William Thomas “Bill” Dee, owner/creator of “S.O.B. Lures” formerly of Austin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 18th at his home in Lytle, Texas. Bill was a former Austin Firefighter, fire investigator for Rimkus Consulting. He enjoyed many hobbies in his life including motocross, softball and bass fishing. His lure company allowed him to do what he loved: fish, meet people, and tell stories.
