🎣 Big Bass and Bigger Leads

Round 2 of the MLF Shotgun event on Lake Chickamauga has delivered in a big way — giant bass, flooded conditions, and fast-moving leaders.

  • Cliff “Cajun Baby” Crochet is on fire through the first two rounds, holding a 30 lb lead over second place!
    He’s fan-casting through shallow grass using a lipless rattle bait, targeting fish 10–15 ft off the bank.
  • John Murray trails Crochet by about 30 lbs and sits comfortably in second, continuing to fish methodically through current-driven grass lines.
  • Cody Meyer put a giant 7 lb 11 oz bass on the board — one of the day’s top catches.

Lake levels have risen a full foot overnight due to consistent spring rains.

🌊 Weather & Water Update

The Tennessee Valley Authority is pushing a heavy current through the dam, helping fire up the bite — though water inflow continues to rise.
With more rain in the forecast, the lake’s visibility has dropped, leaving water stained with a light brown hue in several creeks.

  • Tommy Biffle hooks a solid 6 lb 3 oz bass, keeping himself in striking distance.

🌸 Spawn Bite Heating Up

Plenty of spawning bass are now visible on beds throughout the lake.

  • Edwin Evers (Double E) is sight-fishing with a drop shot and climbing fast — now up to fourth place.
  • Jacob Wheeler remains consistent, targeting spawning fish behind docks, maintaining strong average weights and steady progression.

Even deeper competitors are getting in on the bite.
Shin Fukae sits in 31st, adjusting his pattern in hopes of rising as the bite stabilizes.
