Big Smallmouth Days This past week was a dream for any smallmouth fanatic — we caught and filmed an epic run of trophy fish. Several smallies topped 6 lbs, and five fish we weighed all broke the 5 lb mark on a digital scale. Every bite was a reminder why chasing these giants is just plain electric.
It was a mixed-bait bonanza: jerkbaits, football jigs, crankbaits, and lipless cranks all drew heavy strikes.

I fished for 2 hrs today in the afternoon. The weather was the normal 25-40 mph South winds and a warm 76 degrees. The low last night was only in the 50’s so the water didn’t cool much from the day before. I have been fishing from shore the last few outings and can only estimate the water temperature at 65 degrees.
